7-DAY AFFILIATE CHALLENGE: For my Fellow Affiliates and Bloggers from Nigeria

This is for my fellow affiliates and bloggers from Nigeria. The goal of my experiment is to find out the average cost of making money daily. I find that so many of my newbie bloggers and affiliates are overly concerned that they may never break even given the “high cost” of internet service in Africa’s largest nation.
According to reports, about 43 million people out of the 160 million citizens have access to internet. Of those with internet access, about 3 million of them maintain accounts on facebook.com.
Very few of them are aware of any online money-making opportunities and those few are somewhat plagues by the bad online reputation that Nigeria has earned over the years. For example just enter the words, “internet scam” into your google search bar and you will find that Nigeria is mentioned in most of the search results.
I feel personally concerned that the few folks who have good online business intentions from that country are so often frustrated by internet expenses. This is why I want to do my own live experiment to see what we can come up with in 1 week of blogging and affiliate marketing WITHOUT USING PAY-PER-CLICK.
It is important to note that most Nigerian credit cards are not accepted internationally and besides, most Nigerians are said to live on less than $1 per day. So here we go.

In this blog, the following assumptions are made.
  1. That you already have a blog account.
  2. That you already have a clickbank account and know how affiliate marketing works.
  3. That you can afford a daily data plan.

Alright now, what we want to find out is if you can make ANY profit on the cost of your daily data plan. According to my findings, that should be around $3.50 for 150MB per day.
What I am going to do now is choose a well-researched product to market, do the keyword research, do my articles, social marketing, hub, squidoo and everything and then when all my lines have been laid, we sit back and watch and see if we will make any money.

NIGERIA AND THE GLOBAL INTERNET ECONOMY

There are 1.9 BILLION people on the internet today.
In 2010, Comscore.com reported a 10% increase in people buying online taking the figure close to $34 billion in a quarter (that's just in 3 months). In just the UK alone $7.8 billion was spent online in July 2010. More and more people are getting connected to the internet every 'single' year and only a small handful of people are serving them and cashing in.
E-commerce has grown to become a multi billion dollar marketplace that straddles the entire planet, and yet is still in its infancy. Recent estimates place annual internet turnovers at $100 billion –a figure that is set to skyrocket over the next decade.
THE NIGERIAN SITUATION
A simple search on the internet for the keywords “internet scam” will naturally include Nigeria in the results. This goes a long way to showing the ugly online reputation that our nation has earned over the last decade especially.
While the efforts of anti-corruption agencies, especially EFCC, are yielding fruit, there is great ned for a different and complimentary approach to these ongoing and remarkable efforts.
Thorndike’s Law Of Effect:
This law states that behaviors that are followed by pleasant consequences will be strengthened, and will be more likely to occur in the future.
The fact is that 92% of these scammers are youth and young adults. This finding that puts the potential number of internet scammers at close to over 100,000.
Even if all of them were to be apprehended, the fact remains that no nation can survive with such a huge number of its youth force in jail.
A new approach becomes imperative in nipping this bad practice in the bud.
OUR PROPOSAL
Based on the above stated law, we propose to hold a Youth Workshop for the teeming population of unemployed Nigerian youths, who are faced with the daily temptation of turning to internet crime.
The workshop is a hands-on learning experience for youths across the state with the sole aim of helping them acquire necessary skills for earning a decent income online.
Our firm has been in the online business consulting service since 2009 and in that period, we have been responsible for generating over N2million both directly and otherwise.
IMPLEMENTATION
The one-day workshop will be followed-up with a 90 to 180 day mentoring program in the different streams of legal online business –excluding forex trade.

Introducing SOURCE NIGERIA: the official guide to legal Online wealth

Sovereign Undertaking for Revolutionary Cyber Education, SOURCE, was founded in 2010 to bring urgent and immediate change to the ugly Nigerian Online Reputation.
From inception, our mission has been to educate Nigerian youth in crime-free internet businesses though funding from the goodwill of donors in the privates sector individuals who share our vision.
It is true that today, the average Nigerian is denied services today online because of the ugly reputation that our nation has acquired online.
Leading online providers like paypal, clickbank, and ebay have express warnings to their customers not to do business with Nigerians.
Even more embarrassing is the discovery of a deadly virus on the site of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. There is an effective warning on watchdog sites for people to avoid the EFCC website.
These and many similarly unfortunate situations plague our local online experience. Certainly, it is in no small part to the virulent involvement of our unemployed youth in cyber crime. This, in our honest opinion needs to be addressed with the same urgency as the Niger Delta or Boko Haram militant situation.
While current efforts by the financial crimes watchdog EFCC, are yielding some measure of result, we at SOURCE have invented a novel approach based upon research findings in the field of Psychotherapy and Operant Conditioning.
Thorndike’s Law of Effect:
This law states that behaviors that are followed by pleasant consequences will be strengthened, and will be more likely to occur in the future.
In line with this, we seek a way to purge our youth of cybercrime by helping them discover other legitimate ways of making money online.
OUR APPROACH
Ours is a 3 step model that aims to TRAIN, MENTOR and where feasible, to FINANCE the legitimate online dreams of the teeming rank of our unemployed youth.
  • TRAINING: We will conduct nationwide trainings for youth between the ages of 18 and 25 in the various sectors of legitimate internet service businesses, most of which require little capital but have great income potential. Nations like India and China began these years ago and now stands as the chief destinations of outsourced labor from the western world.
  • MENTORING: By mentoring and follow-up over 90-180 days, we will guarantee their proper education and skill development that will ensure they begin to be gainfully employed.
  • FINANCING: Where possible, and depending on our resources at hand, we will also provide adequate financing for the dreams of our trainees.
The optimized cost of starting an online business is N210, 000 as broken down below;
